Club Craig - 2013-1

I'm quite impressed.

I rode my bike for the first time is a while this morning, and although I'm a little sore at the moment, something has lifted my mood.

I recently purchased and iPhone 5 and installed an application called Cyclemeter. It's basically a GPS logger, or so I thought.

I am very impressed with this application. I don't use it as a cycle computer whilst I am riding. I have a smaller computer for that. But after you finish riding, the amount of data that the application has recored is great.

As of right now, I don't have any external sensors for things like heart rate or cadence. They are on my list of things to get sometime this year.

As you can see, with the mapping and speed/elevation readings, you can really understand and "enjoy" your ride long after it's finished.

I also tried my shoe covers for the first time this morning, and they are really worth the money. My feet didn't feel cold or "frozen" as they normally would when leaving home in 1 degree temperatures.

So far, today has gone pretty well.

Until next time.....

It's good to have a hobby

I have a hobby that I share with my son. It's collecting Tomica cars. I'm really happy that I have the ability to share something with my children.

We went to Matsuyama on the weekend and this is our score.

The things that bring people closer together are the things that need to be cultivated.

He looks pleased with his grab doesn't he.

Until next time...

Iwawaki Park

This afternoon I'd reached the end of my tether and needed a timeout. So I jumped in my car and drove the 2 minutes it takes to get to Iwawaki Park. It's a lovely place on top of a mountain in behind my place. The view from there is easterly and you get the chance to see Hanoura and Anan in most of its glory.

However, there was one thing that just didn't sit right with me yesterday. There are "Don't Litter" signs everywhere up there. Along the fence line there would be about a 2 or 3 meter gap between these signs only. It's probably one of the worst cases of visual polution I've ever seen. You have this amazing view that is really ruined by the presense of these signs.

Now, I'm thinking about who is to blame for this. Could it be the city? Could it be the people who dump their rubbish there?

I don't believe that the signs are there just because a few people left their coffee cans or what nots from their cars. I believe people have actually dropped a lot of household rubbish there. This is just plain wrong in my book. Plus, I can't understand why they would do that. There is at least one day, if not more, where just about any kind of rubbish can be removed legally by the rubbish collectors.

It seems like an inability to be patient.

However, I don't believe that putting many signes along the fences is an appropriate way to deter this activity. It really just detracts from the beauty of the park and, to be honest, just looks petty.

So I guess the problem is on both sides. It is really just a shame.

Until next time...

Sometimes it happens.

Today, being Saturday, we have a bit of a long standing promise of playing and working. A nice way for me to end the week.

The last few times I've only run once within the day, but today I thought I'd give it another go. The results of the second run can be seen in the attached images.

That is the way it is with RC and offroad. I've ordered new replacement parts and hopefully they'll be here soon enough. I'll have an hour or so of wrenching and I'll be good to go again.

The lesson is... I have to learn how to land jumps better. Nothing more, nothing less. It's all part of the learning process.

Luckily I also have a few other cars that I can use should the parts not arrive on time.

Until next time....

What's with the weather man?

Seriously, you would have thought by now that the weather man would have at least a bit of an idea of what the weather is going to be like the next day. Even if not perfect, at least a little close.....

So yesterday, I saw the forecast, it said rain....

I beg to differ....
