Sometimes people surprise me.This morning I was dropping my son at school before 6am because he was going on his 2 day school trip starting today. There were humans everywhere. We were told we could park on the school sports ground, but by the time I'd got there, there was very few spaces left. I drove in, parked in one of the spots and then let my son out. Said goodbye and turned to leave. The exit of the sports ground is only really wide enough for one car at time, and at this time people were alternating entering and leaving. This is when I saw the first of my unbelievable things of the morning. One driver had decided to stop in the middle of the entrance and let their children out of the car, hence stopping everyone else from being able to either enter of leave. Once I'd been able to leave, there was yet another car on the wrong side of the road with their child hanging onto the door and chatting. This was stopping any form of flow from either way. I couldn't believe it. I always hear of the ability of the locals to put the needs of others ahead and try to get along, but then this happens and I realize that it's not even close to true. How have you been?I've had a small break from updating this blog. It's been a rather busy little time recently and here's a bit of an update. We had yet another typhoon come close. That meant staying home for the most part and staying out of the wind and rain. I also managed to go for a super long ride, the longest since my recovery started. It was also to a place that I'd always wanted to visit if only just out of a small amount of curiosity. This was out in western Tokushima. The place was nice and I was very happy I went. The quality of the road for riding was superior to those to the east of Mt Tsurugi, but I found the scenery nicer in the east. Clear Autumn DaysNo, this isn’t a photoshop job. This is the actual colour of the sky today. It’s amazing. Have a great day. Loving the look of it.I've never really been someone that has shown much interest in brands nor shown any sort of brand loyalty. I have, however, always liked to use things that I liked the look of. The combination of colour and design that makes it all very pleasing is very important. When it comes to bikes, this is also true. I have recently bought a new chain for my bike that matches the frame, and I couldn't be happier with it. It has not upgraded the performance of the bike per se, but it has indeed increased how much I like the look of the bike and the enjoyment of me owning it. I'd call that a win. Matchy MatchyI tried hard this morning to match my gear with the bike I was riding. It's not something I normally do but it was an interesting exercise all the same. My recovery is coming along. I do feel I'm getting strong every week but it's really only little by little. You can always hope for more but I guess being a little realistic might help me now. |
