Club Craig - 2015-8
It's that time of year againTomorrow evening, the 24 hour charity race begins again. I do have a bit of a problem though, I haven't done any Radio Control this year. It's just not been on my radar. With work commitments or just trying to get fit and healthy as a priority, I haven't had the chance to get ready. I have a few cars that have just sat there. Looks like I'm just going to have to give them a spit-and-polish job and give it a go. I wont be doing the 24 hours like previously, but I'll be there to have fun. That's what counts. If you're free either Saturday night or Sunday, please come down to ラジコン天国 and check it out. Donations are also welcome. Stand up and be counted.I'd never realized the importance of having a good bike stand until I bought my latest road bike. I made the choice to keep it clean and in good running order. Now, the stand I have is certainly not cheap, as it's usually used by bike shops when building bikes and to be honest, it's a little more than I need. However, it is GREAT!!!! Cleaning and checking over my bike has never been easier. It's so easy, that when I bought my folding bike, I also got a stand for it. Cleaning is now no longer a chore. I actually look forward to it. You aren't bent over like an old man, trying to get down to the parts that need the most TLC. They're right there, at a level that's easy to see and work on. Sometimes it's worth spending a little extra to get something that makes maintenance easier. Then, you end up just doing it. A little earlierThe cooler weather has come through a little earlier than initially forecast, and to be honest, it's a very welcome change. I've not been well, but I've jumped on my bike today for a relaxing commute to work. It feels good to be alive today, and it's been a while since I've wanted to say that. However, the awa-dance festival starts this evening, so this weather is perhaps not quite what they wanted. Another bump in the road.I do believe this Summer has been one of the hottest that we've had in the last 10 years at least. We had a cool, wet start but the thermostat has certainly been turned up. I've also been trying to ride as much as possible. I seem to be getting better with the heat, but it is still quite hard to keep up with the amount of sweat that you lose. I've also been struck down with a little illness, which has lead to the dehydration, and that is not a joke. I'm on the mend, but it's taking a long while. I guess I'm getting my moneys worth. Here in Japan, if you purchase a bicycle, you need to have it registered. This process puts a small sticker on the bottom of your frame and they police use this number to check to see if your bike is stolen. This is all great, however, I seem to keep getting pulled over and checked almost every time I'm out riding my folding bike. I have never been stopped riding my road bike. I guess I should be happy that the money that I paid registration is being used, but I'm not quite sure how effective it is. |
